The artwork of local artist Harriet Lindemann has been chosen to represent the fourth annual 10 X 10 Benefit Art Exhibit & Sale. Lindemann’s bold and bright, abstract, pastel image titled “Reflections” will be used on the poster and all promotional materials for the September 30th event. “Reflections” was one of fifty images submitted for consideration in the contest.
Two other Brunswick artists received recognition as runners up for their artwork:Carol Verhey for her fabric collage piece and Maria Castellano-Usery, for her acrylic piece titled “Lemon”. These stand-out images, along with Lindemann’s will be on exhibit and for sale at the show next month.
Harriet Lindemann began exhibiting her art in Maine in 2004. Taught by area art instructors, her initial drawings (in charcoal, graphite, and Prismacolor pencils) were representational. She now prefers creating abstract compositions with watercolor and mixed media and continues to experiment with a variety of drawing and painting media, supports, and tools. Strong diagonal compositions appear frequently in her work, as do images of East Coast flora.
Lindemann is affiliated with Points of View Art Gallery at 18 Pleasant Street, Brunswick. Her work has been exhibited in juried group shows at the Chocolate Church Arts Center, Eleven Pleasant Street Gallery, Maine Street Art, Topsham Public Library and most recently at River Arts in Damariscotta. She has had solo shows at Gallery Framing and Point of View Art Gallery, both in Brunswick.
Lindemann received a first place award in the Joy of Art exhibit, at the Topsham Public Library’s 2010 show for her mixed media piece “Abandon”.
