Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I apply? click here for an application and instructions. For special instructions regarding pastels, click here.

2Where will my art hang?

We hang the art in two venues: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Curtis Memorial Library.  The two buildings are next to each other on Pleasant Street in Brunswick.  The gate to St. Paul’s garden will be open so that people may exit the Library and either go to St. Paul’s by following the sidewalk down Pleasant Street to Union or by going to the Library parking lot and walking to the gate and through the garden to the side door at St. Paul’s.

•The art work will be divided alphabetically by artist’s last name.  The beginning of the alphabet will hang at St. Paul’s; the end will hang at the Library.  Until after the Drop-off, we won’t know where the logical dividing line is.  The wall capacity at Curtis Library is 108 pieces; the remainder will hang at St. Paul’s.

•Prior to the September 30th opening reception we will inform artists by email where their work is hanging. We ask artists who attend the opening reception (and we hope that you can), to come to the gallery where your work is hanging to get your artist’s name tag.

3. How long will my work hang?

The show is one night only – Friday, September 30. We hang the art on Thursday, September 29.  All unsold work is taken down Saturday, October 1.

4. Why does the exhibit hang only one night?

90% of sales occur on the night of the Reception.

5. Is there an opportunity for potential buyers to view the art before the opening reception?

Yes, there are two opportunities to visit the venues before the opening:

•Thursday. September 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, and

•Friday, September 30 from noon to 3:00 pm.

Also, after Labor Day images of submitted work may be viewed at our website: www.10x10brunswick.org.

6. Why do we request images of your submitted work?

We ask you to provide jpeg images of your work so we may put them onto our website for potential buyers to preview before the opening. There are two ways to do this:

•On August 27 at the Drop-off, take advantage of the services of our volunteer photographer to have your work photographed after you check in.

•Or, email a jpeg image of your artwork to us no later than September 1.  File size must be no larger than 288x288 pixels (4” x 4”); 72 dpi.

7. When do I pick up my unsold artwork (if any!)?

There are two pick up dates for your convenience.  Both are at Curtis Library.

•Saturday, October 1 from 9:30 to noon.

•Saturday, October 8 from 9:30 to noon.

Pieces not picked up become the property of Arts Are Elementary.  Artists who live away from Brunswick frequently arrange for someone to pick up the work for several artists who live in their area.
